Stand on the Promises is authored by Mabel P. Duncan. It is not a conventional devotional website. Mabel likes to deal with people in a very personal way, and has taken the insights she received while in meditation and brought them to the web to share with “whosoever will.” It is a heart to heart sharing of God’s Word. Therefore, the format from day to day will vary.
Mrs. Duncan has been married for fifty-four years to Mr. Herman Ricardo Duncan, a licensed translator and retired social worker.
In the year 2007 Mabel felt the call to dedicate herself to sharing God’s love through the promises in His Word, via the web. Though she has been a public speaker for the greater part of her life there were times when she wondered if she would be able to carry out this commission successfully. At these times she was reminded that “all of God’s biddings are enablings.”
Her public participation has included conducting evangelistic meetings in her home church in the Republic of Panama, where she was born; and having the joy of seeing Jesus draw souls unto Himself. She has been the keynote speaker on many, and varied, occasions, and thoroughly enjoys meeting people. She served as an Assistant Pastor in Southern California, for eleven years; until June 30, 2020! She continues to share the love of her best Friend Jesus Christ, whenever she has the opportunity to do so.
She is the mother of four adult children. On February 18, 2013, Julie L. Duncan-Hoyte, our firstborn, fell asleep in the Lord leaving a big void in the heart of our family. But before she fell asleep God gave her five wonderful years, by His grace, to mold the character of her precious son Michael Wayne Archibold-Duncan. For this we will be eternally grateful! We await the great getting-up morning with joyous expectation when we shall see our darling daughter again in the splendor of good health and eternal youth! Until then, “Sleep on and take your rest my love. We will see you in the morning.” Julie is the author of a unique book entitled, The Brainstormer. Think, Imagine, Create; and another, by the name of Healthy, Wealthy and Happy, Now and Forever!
Dirma C. Duncan, finished and published her first book, Going Somewhere? A Modern Parable, some years ago. It is a fascinating book written in story form, dealing with the question, How are we saved – by grace or by works?
Dr. Ricardo A. Duncan-Hoyte, is married to Kayra Duncan Vaz,-Aturo, a teacher. They currently reside in the Republic of Panama. They are the parents of a beautiful little girl, Julie Valentina Mahtob Duncan-Vaz. I look forward to him contributing to the Article of the Month page, with topics on health.
Renee E. Duncan lives in Spain. She works as a stewardess, in the office, of one of Spain’s high speed train systems.
Mabel has a deep passion for studying, and sharing, the Word of God with others. Her heart’s desire is that something she says or does will allow someone to get to know, fall in love with, and finally, accept Jesus, as his or her personal Savior. And that everyone she meets, who already knows the Savior, through some kindness on her part, will love Him even more!
She considers it a tragedy that there are people in the world who do not know that there is a Savior who loves them and died to save them! Her life’s mission is to find as many as she can, and share His love with them!
If I can do this for the rest of my life, then my living will not have been in vain!
