They Shall Renew Their Strength!

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40: 31

Dear Savior, we come into Your presence to have our strength renewed.  We know that we will not be disappointed; in Jesus’ name. Amen

The message of the prophet usually depended upon what was taking place at the time the message was given.  So let us take a look.  The king of Judah, Hezekiah, had been raised up from his deathbed.  Upon request, God had given him a sign so great (time going backward ten degrees!) that Merodachbaladan, the king of Babylon, sent representatives with gifts for him, congratulating him on his recovery.  I am sure the word had gotten around that Hezekiah’s God was the One responsible for the phenomenon that had been witnessed worldwide.  This was Hezekiah’s grand opportunity to introduce them to the Creator!

But he missed this great opportunity of sharing with the Babylonians the one and only God, the Creator of everything, including time.   YHWH was beyond time.  He controled time; not the other way around.  He had commanded time to go backward and it did!  Who is this God that even time obeys Him?  What an opportunity Hezekiah had forfeited to witness to the greatness of Almighty God!  Instead he had shown them all of his earthly treasures; his silver, and gold; there was “nothing among [his] treasures that he had not shown them.”  But they left his palace without so much as a glimpse of the Pearl of great price!  How tragic!

You would belive that with all God was doing for His people His name would have been on everyone’s lips; that He would have been the main theme of every conversation.  Unfortunately, that was not the case.  People were still making themselves gods of metal and wood; gods according to their imagination; gods made in their image, and after their likeness; the work of men’s hands.

So in the midst of their apostasy God sends a message to His backsliding people:  “To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One.  Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; not one is missing….Have you not known?  Have you not heard?  The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. ”

‘ “Who can I be compared with, oh Israel, that you should even try to represent me?  Haven’t you heard?  My works are not according to the norm.  Humanly speaking, it is normal for the youth to be strong, but I tell you that “even the youths shall faint and be weary.”  But those who “wait” on Me, those who trust, not in their abilities, but in My power, will have new strength for every day, for every trial!  They cannot be worn out for they are strong in My might.  They will not faint, because I neither faint nor become weary.” ‘

This God is the same yesterday, today, and forever!  Wait on Him and experience the renewing of your strength, today and everyday.

They Shall Renew Their Strength!
