His Love Will Never End!

Give thanks to the LORD for [H]e is good; [H]is love endures forever.  Psalm 107: 1, NIV

Dear Lord, here we are again, sitting at Your feet, waiting to hear from You; in the precious name of Jesus; Amen

Our promise today, begins on a note of praise:  “Give thanks to the LORD[!]”  What is the reason for this praise?  “God is good!”  I can say, Yes! to that.  I can testify to that!  I can rejoice in that!  I can join with the psalmist in giving praise for that!  I have proven that!  Then comes the promise, “His love endures forever.”  Hallelujah!  Where would we be without this love!

He is good.”  Let us spend some time talking about the goodness of the Lord.

Verse 2, NRSV:  Those who have been redeemed can testify of this, He saved us “from trouble.”  I believe that only when we get to heaven, will we realize from just how much trouble God has saved us.  Many of us, had we not been redeemed when we were, who knows how much trouble we would have brought upon ourselves, and others.  But thanks be to God, He redeemed us just in time!  In Deuteronomy 10: 13, we discover that the “commands and decrees” [that He gives us]…are for [our] own good!”  Not many people are fond of rules, but if we look at the rules given to us by the LORD, we will realize that they were all given in love, and for our own good!

And it is all because “His steadfast love endures forever!”

Verse 10-14, NRSV:  Does anybody know what the psalmist is talking about when he asks,  Have any of you “sat in darkness and in gloom, prisoners in misery and in irons, [because you] had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High[?]  [Were your hearts] bowed down with hard labor; [had you fallen] down, with no one to help[?]”  But as soon as you “cried to the LORD in [your] trouble…[H]e saved [you] from [your] distress; [H]e brought [you] out of darkness and gloom, and broke [your] bonds asunder.” I know that somebody who is reading this meditation today is shouting, glory, hallelujah!  You know that these words are as true as life, because you have been in this situation, and have been delivered by the mercies of God!

And it is all because “His steadfast love endures forever!”

Verse 17-20, NRSV:  “Some were sick through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities endured affliction; they loathed any kind of food, and they drew near to the gates of death.  Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and [H]e saved them from their distress;    [H]e sent out [H]is word and healed them, and delivered them from destruction.”  Many of us who know what it is to be sick, whether it is because of our intemperance (not sufficient rest), or eating habits, or too much stress, or, as the psalmist stated, because of sinful ways, whatever the cause; if we are still upon the land of the living, we know, beyond the shadow of any doubt, that it was because of the Great Physician, who visited us in the day of sickness, and laid His hands of healing upon us!  Blessed Savior!    Gracious God!

And it is all because “His steadfast love endures forever!”

Have you experienced this love?  If you have not, today is as good a day as ever to begin.  Blessings!
