What A Good God We Serve!

You are forgiving and good; O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to [Y]ou.  Hear my prayer, O LORD: listen to my cry for mercy.  In the day of my trouble I will call to You, for [Y]ou will answer me.  Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with   [Y]ours.  All the nations [Y]ou have made will come and worship before [Y]ou, O Lord; they will bring glory to [Y]our name.  For You are great and do marvelous deeds; [Y]ou alone are God.  Psalm 86: 5-10, NIV.

Heavenly Father, here we are again; waiting before You until we hear a word that will give us hope in the midst of the storms of life.  In the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

How often we hear people talking about “How good God is!”  I wonder how many of us fully comprehend the profound truthfulness of that statement, and all that it implies!  When Jesus said to the rich young ruler, “There is only One who is good” (Matthew 19: 26, NIV); He took the word “good” to a whole new level, because the “only One,” is God Almighty!  Who can compare with God?  For a few minutes let us look at our promise in the light of God’s goodness.

You are forgiving and good; O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to [Y]ou.  I never get tired of reflecting on God’s willingness to forgive.  Hear Him as He exhorts us to “sinlessness,” while making provision for our inherent sinfulness:  “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin.  And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2: 1).  And it is all because of love!  He not only loves us; He “abounds in love to all who call to Him.”  A few days ago our devotional was entitled:  “God Is No Respecter Of Persons!”  His love abounds to all!  Praise God!

Hear my prayer, O LORD: listen to my cry for mercy.  In the day of my trouble I will call to     [Y]ou, for [Y]ou will answer me.  I thank God that when I pray, He does not ignore me!  I do not know about anyone else, but I am in need daily, of a new supply of mercy.  The problem is, I am not always willing to be merciful.  I pray that as I am a daily recipient of His mercy, my heart might be moved to dispense of His mercy to others.  Are we living in the day of trouble?  As I feel this extreme heat that we are experiencing; I realize that our earth is groaning in hope of redemption; and is reeling toward a re-creation!  May the Lord help us in the day of trouble; may He answer our prayer, and help us to be ready for His coming in glory!

Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with [Y]ours.  All the nations [Y]ou have made will come and worship before [Y]ou, O Lord; they will bring glory to [Y]our name.  For [Y]ou are great and do marvelous deeds; [Y]ou alone are God.  There is really no god but YHWH.  “To whom will you compare [M]e or count [M]e equal?  To whom will you liken [M]e that we may be compared?…I am God, and there is no other; I am God and there is none like [M]e.”  Everything else is the work of man’s hands (Isaiah 46: 5-11).  He is creator, and He is redeemer.  The day is coming when everyone will bow the knee before Him, and will glorify His name!  “…At the name of Jesus every knee [will] bow… and every tongue [will]confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2: 9-11).

Until then, may we be faithful!
