Unto Us A Son is Given!

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder.  And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end… Isaiah 9: 6, 7, NKJV

Heavenly Father, how can we ever thank You enough for giving us all that Heaven had to offer in the person of Your Son, Jesus the Christ.  Amen

Today we are looking at one of my favorite texts.  How my heart thrills to the thought that we mean so much to God, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, that they were willing to agree that the Son would lay down His life on our behalf; that they would “empty” heaven on our behalf!  Oh what love!  When Christ clothed His divinity with humanity to become our Savior, it was not only for a time, it was for eternity!  He was not lent to humankind, He was given!  Yes; forever He became a part of the human race.  Jesus, according to C. S. Lewis is “a new kind of man.”  How encouraging to know that One of our own, perfect in every way, represents us before the Father! 

“And the government will be upon His shoulder.”  The day is hastening on when Christ will rule over all the governments of this world.  I can hardly wait for that day to come! 

“And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor.”  Who can be a more Wonderful Counselor to us, than He who came to planet earth and walked in our shoes, “but without sin?”  Let us make it our duty to sit at His feet daily, and listen to what He has to say!

“Mighty God.”  He, ”Who being in very nature God….made Himself nothing…” It was love that made Him leave the worship of angels and come to earth to take our place, and die in our stead; He, the Mighty God!

“Everlasting Father.”  “The same was in the beginning with God.”  There has never been a time when Christ was not.  He, along with the Father, and the Holy Spiriit, are from everlasting, to everlasting.  

“Prince of Peace.”  He alone who possesses peace could offer “peace not as the world offers” it, but peace of a rare quality, the peace of heaven.

“Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.”  When Christ sets up His kingdom in the earth made new it will be forever.  And His peace will be the order of the day.  Hallelujah!  

Wouldn’t you like  to be a part of such a reign?  I sure want to be there when they crown my Jesus King of kings, and Lord of lords!  I long to live in a world of righteousness and justice.  That is the kind of kingdom Christ is going to set up.  By His grace, let us be ready to usher in His reign!

I want to wish you “Happy Redemption!”  That is what the birth of Jesus represents, our redemption.  It was the first phase in the plan of salvation.  Let us not become too caught up with the when, of His birth that we lose sight of the why.  And let us not become too busy giving to others that we forget that Jesus longs for us to give Him the greatest gift of all, our hearts!  Be blessed!

NOTE:  My darling “baby” Renee, had a birthday on December 19, and yesterday, my precious daughter Dirma, celebrated her birthday. For my two December blessings, I give God infinite thanks! Dirma was a miracle baby, and all I can say, is, “To God be the glory great things He has done!” To both of you, a most blessed birthday, God’s richest blessings upon you, and may you have an eternity of birthdays! I love you both very much!
