But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law[.] Galatians 4: 4, NKJV.
Dear heavenly Father, how wonderful, and comforting, it is to know that You have a time for everything! This gives structure to our existence. We thank You for this in the blessed name of Jesus. Amen.
If we could only learn the lesson, that when we come to Christ, our lives are no longer under our control. We have joined our feeble, frail, and fragile, beings, to the omnipotent, sovereign, invincible, God, who has set a time for everything that affects our lives. Yes, that’s right! God has everything that will ever touch your life under His control! Even though at times it may appear that we are at the mercy of our circumstances, that is not the case. God’s clock is neither fast nor slow – it is always on time! And in the fullness of time, He will act!
Let us look at some of the results of being restful that have been recorded in Scripture for our instruction:
Isaiah 30: 15, 16, talks about “returning and rest[ing]” in the LORD, in order to be saved. Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of learning to rest, is that it overflows into our spiritual lives. When we learn the art of ‘slowing down” in the presence of the LORD, the effect permeates our entire being, and influences all other aspects of our existence. We become save-able.
Psalm 46: 10, encourages us to “be still,” in order to “know that [He is] God.” Perhaps our “busyness” has cost us more than we are aware of. It has cost us, “getting to know God,” which by the way, “is eternal life.” The Adversary does not want us to take inventory on what is the true cost of our busyness. If we did, we would be shocked!
Let us read what is recorded in Exodus 14: 13, “But Moses told the people, ‘Don’t be afraid. just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today… The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.’ ” (New Living Translation, emphasis provided). Perhaps the LORD cannot win your battles for you, because you have not allowed Him to fight them. My eldest daughter once told me something to this effect. She said, “maybe we are in the way.”
Why do you believe so much importance is placed on our “wait[ing] on the LORD,” “being “quiet,” “stand[ing] still,” being “calm?” Could there be a reason for this? A reason that we are not aware of, or, have chosen to overlook? One very important, common factor, that I have noticed is, salvation. In all three examples, salvation is jeopardized, when we do not wait on the LORD. Let me share my thought with you on this. God does not move in time at our pace. He is not limited by time. He controls it! When we are dealing with a day, God is dealing with one thousand years; and vice-versa. “In the fulness of time,” or, “at the right time,” God acts. so give God the problem, then step out of the way, let Him fight and win your battles for you; at the right time!
