Speak Often Of His Goodness!

I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, according to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses. Isaiah 63: 7.

Dear God and Father, please help us to spend more time counting our blessings and talking about Your goodness. In the holy name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

We hear a lot about the effect our words have on others. But I believe not enough is said about the effect our words have on us, personally! So if we must cast an influence on everyone around us, including ourselves, should we not make it a good one? One effective way of doing that, is by remembering, and speaking, of God’s goodness. For a few minutes let us consider what speaking about the goodness of the Lord does for everyone.

It creates a positive atmosphere. Have you ever noticed how peaceful our surroundings become when everyone is on the same sheet of music – praising the Lord? At testimony services when the theme and the center of the meeting is Jesus, people leave there feeling blessed.

It empowers. Children who grow up in an atmosphere of encouragement, exude a feeling of empowerment, because positive words, create a feeling of empowerment! They are usually achievers, because of this. They feel that they “can do all things!” If we tell children about the “good” plans God has for them, they receive a vision of the kind of future that can be theirs.

It brings peace to the hearers. How can you not feel peaceful when you are speaking about the “Peacemaker” (Albert Hammond). We speak:  we create, we empower, we bring peace to the hearers, when we talk to others about the goodness of the Lord! When we count our blessings! When we talk of “the multitude of His lovingkindnesses!”

It is such a wonderful thing to talk about God and His goodness, that God has immortalized these moments, “Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who meditate on His name” (Malachi 3: 16)!

The next time you think of something that God has done for you – mention it to someone!
