God’s Protection is Completely Reliable

Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; Speak the word, but it will not stand, For God is with us. (Isaiah 8: 10, NKJV).

Heavenly Father, we are here in Your Presence once more to give You thanks for Your Word which is “a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, in this world of gross darkness.” Thank You, in the blessed name of Jesus Christ! Amen.

Have you ever stopped to think what life on this earth would be like if God was not watching over us? Can any of us really live without God’s intervention in our life? Jesus Himself answered that question when He declared the following about His Father and ours:  “that you may be sons [and daughters] of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matthew 5: 45. Emphasis provided). Thank God He takes care of all of us!

However, there are times when He has taken special care of those who put their trust in Him; those who are called by His name. Listen to the words of the apostle to the Romans:  “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8: 31)? It sounds somewhat like our Scripture for today doesn’t it?

God’s people were being threatened by the Assyrians, a people greater in number and in strength than they. It is only natural that they would be fearful, and they were. But God reminded His people that the only Person they needed to fear was Him, the Sovereign God (Isaiah 8: 12, 13).

He would be with them. The name Immanuel was being given to Jerusalem (verse 8), as a reminder that God would be with them, and if God was with them, and for them, who could be against them? Throughout His Word, the promise of His reliable protection is mentioned.

In another promise in the book of Isaiah we read the following:  ” ‘ “. . . No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord’ “.(Isaiah 54: 17. Emphasis provided).

It is interesting to note that the infallibility of God’s promises are based on the inheritance He has left for us His children, and the merits of His righteousness. Therefore we can be sure that His protection is completely reliable!
