Just For Today

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4: 13, NKJV).

Dear God, how often we become frustrated when we contemplate our Christian experience. It seems that we are not growing as rapidly as we should. Today just give us a new glimpse of how you see us, and give us your peace! In the blessed name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

As I was walking this morning I began to talk to the Lord. (Perhaps that is the reason I don’t mind walking alone. I have some very open and honest and enabling conversations with my Abba during my morning walks.) Soon some thoughts began filtering into my mind; thoughts that were not welcome; so I said to my Abba, “please take them away; how long must these unwelcome thoughts keep plaguing me? You know that I want to be free from them!”

As suddenly as I had that thought, our text for today popped into my mind:  “I can do all things. . .” This was followed by my inquiry, “So when am I going to begin to ‘do all things?’ ” At this point other texts started following in quick succession as the discussion continued in my mind.

“Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be.” (Deuteronomy 33: 25. Emphasis provided). “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6: 34).

Suddenly the peace of God filled my soul. I understood what my Abba was saying to me and I peacefully continued my morning walk.

I believe the message He has for you and me today is:  “I know what you want to become. I also know what you need to enable you to become who you want to be. I see the big picture, you don’t.” As I sit here penning my thoughts this was added by Abba:  “Keep walking with Me. The day is coming when your doing will be replaced by your being.  For now, let me take care of your needs just for today.”

Thank You Abba. Amen.
