But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. (Matthew 15: 18, 19, NKJV).
Dear God, how encouraging it is to know that you are the greatest heart surgeon in the universe! Therefore, we come to You to receive a new heart. Thank You for hearing and answering our prayer request in the holy name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Have you ever thought about the fact that the minute you open your mouth people could be looking inside of you-at your heart? That could be a good thing or a bad thing. On a whole, the human race suffer from grave heart diseases. It is a blessing that our heart surgeon does not charge us for the operation. He paid for it on Calvary. Thank You Jesus! Otherwise, I dare say, we would all be dead.
The prophet Jeremiah was very aware of this fact. He put it this way: ” ‘ “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it . . .” ‘ ” ?
That makes our condition especially dangerous and delicate. We do not even fully know our own hearts! That thought causes me much concern. I like to know what is going on inside of me. That is why I do a self-inventory from time to time. Especially during times of stress and anxiety I am constantly paying attention to my internal self-talk, and constantly ask myself why am I feeling the way I am feeling, and why am I doing the things I am doing. We cannot let the heart act on its own, it cannot be trusted!
But thanks be to God, as His child, I know I can go to my Abba and give it all to Him. His promise to me is that where sin abounds, grace abounds even more (Romans 5:20)! Hallelujah!
Because of this I have made the Psalmist’s prayer my own:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139: 24, 25. Emphasis provided.).
Abba not only performs the surgery, but gives me preventive maintenance, and the balm of healing. He is the only One who can guarantee you eternal life because of His surgical intervention!
