Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths. And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority. Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” Luke 4:31-35.
Our Holy Father, please teach us how we can get to know Your Son Jesus as Savior and Lord, and spend the rest of our lives sharing Him with others. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth we pray! Amen.
The demons recognized Jesus of Nazareth as the Holy One of God, but none of them were converted. This is not only the case with demons. If we are not careful the same thing could happen to us. Many people know Jesus by name, but not by nature.
We know that He became a man, but do we know that He is also God? We know that He took upon Himself our nature, but do we know that He never sinned?
You will notice that the emphasis is on knowing. Many of us have heard about Jesus, but we do not know Him! Could it be that we believe that the less we know about Him the less will be required of us?
It would be helpful for us to know that what we have an opportunity to know about Jesus and refuse to get to know Him, makes us as guilty as the person who knew Him but chose not to believe in Him.
The other side of that coin is that we have everything to win and nothing to lose, by not only knowing about Jesus, but by knowing Him as our Friend and Savior!
There is no hope for the demons, but there is still hope for you and me. So I invite you to get to know Jesus today, who to know is life eternal!
