How Long, Lord? – Part 4

How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? Psalm 13:1, 2.

It is me once again dear Lord, in Your presence, in the need of prayer. Just speak Father, and my soul will find rest and be blessed! I ask this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We have come to the last question in this paragraph:  How long will my enemy be exalted over me? Is this sentiment of the psalmist David familiar to you? Have you ever asked God this question? Or perhaps you asked yourself the question. How long will this unfair situation go on?

If it were for us to answer the question we would not think twice to put an end to this uncomfortable situation. But I believe that sometimes we forget that “God is not a man” (Numbers 23:19)! God is Lord! He is Creator! He is Savior! He is the Parent par excellence! And a parent, at least the normal parent, is always trying to obtain a “win. win” solution for his or her children. Not willing that any should suffer; not willing that any should perish.

God has already told us that “[His] thoughts are not [our] thoughts, nor are  [our] ways [His] ways, (Isaiah 55:8). As it is impossible for flesh and blood to inhabit the kingdom of God, so it is impossible for us, in our fleshy, sinful nature, to think the lofty, heavenly thoughts of God, and act in the self-less manner in which God acts! Human beings seek to destroy whatever threatens and interferes with our peace and safety. These are the very people God seeks to save!

So while we spend our days trying to be free from the evil manipulations and cruelty of unscrupulous and ungodly people, God is giving them time to repent and turn from their evil ways! What appears to us as inactivity on God’s part, is really God acting in ways that are not our ways. In ways that we do not understand! So we will keep asking these questions until His mind becomes our mind (Philippians 2:5), and His thoughts our thoughts! May this change come quickly!

And always remember, things are not always what they appear to be! What we look at as exalted, might just be a set-up for a fall!

The conversation continues.
