I Will Rejoice In Your Salvation!

But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 13:5, 6.

Gracious God, please sustain us in Your mercy! Please save us in Your love! Please silence our fears, and show us Your salvation. In the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

After the psalmist has struggled through all his doubts and laments, he stops and makes a decision:  I will trust, rejoice, and sing! When you have experienced discouragement, frustration, disappointment, and felt that even God had overlooked, there is no better thing to do than trust in past mercies, rejoice in victories won, and give God some heartfelt praise!

The psalmist had proven the mercy of God in his life. Every day God provides His children with mercies that are “new every morning”! We just have to open our eyes and all around us there are signs of God’s never ending mercies! So David decides to celebrate more of what he wants to see! What better way to renew the journey after you have met with an obstacle in your path, than to spend some time remembering the way the Lord has led you in the past!

He had a choice, as we all do. He could continue lamenting or he could begin to rejoice over the victories of the past. He chose to rejoice. Good choice, although not always easy to make. There a lot of things that people can choose to rejoice over, but nothing as great as our salvation! When we stop and reflect over what Jesus did for us on Calvary’s cross, we are empowered and enabled; for there is “no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus”! Hallelujah!

Then he breaks into  a song of praise! I can totally relate to that act of praise. I love to praise my Lord in prayer! I love to praise Him in a spoken testimony. I enjoy praising Him as I sit to study His Word, but, Oh! The joy of praising Him in song! This form of praise takes me to another level! It warms my heart in ways that nothing else can. I can hardly wait until, by His grace, I make it to heaven! I will sing for my Jesus with all my heart!

The reason for his threefold praise is one that I can understand with my heart, my mind and my might. For God has dealt bountifully with me in my entire being. He has touched my heart. He has renewed my mind. He has healed my body.

My entire life is one big reason to rejoice in God’s salvation!

I Will Rejoice In Your Salvation!
