God Has The Last Word! – Part 2

The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance. Psalm 33:10-12.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Your Son and our Savior we come before Your Mercy Seat today thanking You for another day of life and asking You to teach us from Your Word. May we hear Your voice as we study today. This is our prayer in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Saying that “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations, “might cause some to raise an eyebrow in wonderment; If this is true why is the world in the condition it is in? Are these the plans of God’s heart? To which the majority most likely would answer, “Of course not!” And that is true!

The condition of our world is not in keeping with Gods original plan at creation. Nonetheless, in answering this question it behooves us to remember that His ways are not our ways, nor our thoughts His thoughts. Could it be, that in God’s plans, the exercise of free will also includes living with the consequences of exercising that free will?

God’s plan was never for  humankind to know evil (Genesis 3:22). However, the exercise of Adam and Eve’s freedom of choice, to obey the serpent instead of God, caused the knowledge of evil to enter Paradise, and by default, the knowledge of death, a direct consequence of knowing evil.

Therefore, since God’s counsel stands forever, and the plans of His heart to all generations, and free will brings consequences, in keeping with God’s plans, our first parents would bear the consequences of their decision. They must leave their garden home wherein is the Tree of Life. They must now experience death.

So in answering the question, Does the counsel of the Lord stand forever, the plans of His heart to all generations? Yes they do! When we look around us, the calamity we are witnessing is God’s eternal counsel juxtaposed with the disobedience of humankind. God has ever, only wanted the best for His children. On the other hand, we, His children, have wanted to do things our way.

Even though we have witnessed the devastating effects of the wrong use of free will in our lives and the lives of our loved ones, in nature, on Divinity (the death of Jesus), we have not learned our lesson. Nevertheless, the truth is, that God will always have the last word!
