All Of God’s Promises Can Be Trusted!

“Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses” (1 Kings 8:56).

Heavenly Father, upon this declaration from Your infallible Word, I enter Your Throne Room joyfully, knowing that I can depend on the fulfillment of Your promises in my life. May I never lose sight of Your faithfulness and love to Your children. Thank You dear God for Your unconditional love. In the blessed name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

You may have noticed that our Scripture for today is the signature Bible text on the website. I have never used it before in a devotional as far as i can remember, but I felt impressed to use it today.

In the chapter from which this verse is taken (1 Kings chapter 8), we find Solomon’s prayer of dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem. This was a very extravagant event, to say the least. Solomon’s prayer on this occasion was beautifully prepared and presented. Poetically expressed, with heartfelt devotion to God, for the marvelous way in which the Lord had kept His promise to his father David, even after his father was dead.

David wanted to be the one to build a house for the Lord. God had graciously declined his offer, but had promised him, that his son Solomon would be the one to be granted this special privilege. That day had come, and Solomon went out of his way to make it a day never to be forgotten! And it never was,

“But many of the priests and Levites and heads of the fathers’ houses, old men who had seen the first temple, wept with a loud voice when the foundation of this temple was laid before their eyes” (Ezra 3:12, emphasis supplied).

After praying to God, asking that “His eyes, and ears would ever be open to the prayers coming into His temple;” and that, from wherever his people  were, and in whatever situation they found themselves, when they cried to the Lord, that He would hear and answer (Read 1 Kings 8:23-53); that Solomon confirmed his faith in God, with the words of our text for today,

“Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses.”

Day and night, the fire on the altar of burnt offering that was in the court yard (we will talk more about this in our next devotional), was never to be put out. It was holy fire that had been ignited by God to show that the offering had been accepted by Him. No one but God can declare an offering for sin acceptable or not, and therefore, for the people to be aware that there was always forgiveness available from God, a sacrifice was to be always burning with the holy fire lit by God Himself.

From Babylon, as a captive Daniel would enter His room three times a day, with his eyes and heart turned toward the temple in Jerusalem and pray to God (Daniel 6:10). And God heard!

From the belly of the fish, Jonah could turn his heart toward the temple in Jerusalem, and ask forgiveness of God (Jonah 2:1, 2, 4). And God heard!

Wherever you are today, right now, you can turn your heart toward the sanctuary in heaven, and by faith enter God’s Throne Room and offer Him your praise, and confess your sin knowing that God will hear, and answer  you!

Because, “There has not failed one word of all His good promise!”

Parents who keep their promises to their children, leave them a wonderful legacy! Without being aware of it, they are making it easier for their children to learn to trust God.
