Weeping May Endure For The Night, But… Part 2

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, to the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever” (Psalm 30:11, 12).

Heavenly Father, You are our answer to all of life’s perplexities! We hand You our problems, and you give us, not only comfort, but solutions that are life-changing! Thank You dear ABBA, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen!

Let us look at Thursday’s portion of Psalm 30 and today’s portion, comparatively

Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.  For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning ” (4, 5).

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, to the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever” (11, 12).

As we look at these two portions of the psalm we see a combination of Gratitude and Praise:

Gratitude

For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing

You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness

Notice that Gratitude springs from a heart that has a positive outlook on life. The psalmist looks at the anger as “for a moment,” as he compares it to the goodness of God throughout his life; the daily blessings that we so often take for granted, but that we could not live without! The sadness is short lived because God’s mercies are “new every morning!” Dancing has replaced his mourning and sacloth gives way to gladness! If you have not chosen to do so before, today might be a good day to start counting your blessings!

Praise

Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His,

and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.

to the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.

Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever

Praise naturally follows gratitude or thanksgiving. And the psalmist invites others to offer praise with him. He calls on all of God’s saints to tell of God’s goodness. People who have tasted and proven that God is good, and that those who trust in Him are blessed, should not keep their thanksgiving to themselves! Give God the praise that He is worthy of! A very important element of praise is remembering! Whenever He remembers that YHWH was the One who set him free, and keeps him from falling, he cannot help but praise Him forever!

May this new week provide you with many opportunities to count your blessings, and to be filled with gratitude, and give much praise to God!
