However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love [H]im”- but God has revealed it to us by [H]is Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2: 9, 10, NIV.
Heavenly Father, we look to You for guidance in the study of Your Word; for Christ’s sake; Amen.
We spent the last five days studying about the second coming of Jesus Christ to the earth. We began our study with the understanding that no one knows the exact time of Christ’s return. What we do know is that He has left us signs that serve as a warning that His coming is near. The signs in the heavens announced that we had begun to live in the time of the end. Next we dealt with the signs in nature. Then we turned our attention to the mindset of those who will be living upon the earth at the time of Christ’s return. We also observed the behavior patterns of the inhabitants of the earth prior to Christ’s return. Yesterday, our study was about the interpersonal relationships among those dwelling upon the earth when Christ returns.
Today, let us just talk about heaven! But how can you talk about a place you have never visited, nor anyone that you know, have visited? A place, that, according to Scripture, is unimaginable. That is what is implied in our Scripture for today. It has not even entered our minds! The things that God has prepared for His loved ones defy our imagination! But our verse also assures us that with the help of the Holy Spirit we can catch a glimpse, at a distance.
If there was only one thing I could say about heaven it would be, that, it is surely going to be better than what we are living now! Just to think that everything that has ever caused us pain upon this earth, will cease to be. Never again will there be any child, or elder, abuse; or abuse of any kind; because love will be the order of the day! Envy and lying will find no place there because we will all feel good about ourselves.
There will be no jails in heaven, for all have been washed and made new in the blood of the Lamb. There will be no need of rehabilitation centers, because no one will need drugs, or alcohol, to numb their pain – there will be no pain there! There will be no mortuaries on “Alive Forevermore’ avenue. Death will be a thing of the past It will never again cause separation between us! You may ask, how come? “Death is swallowed up in victory. [We shall ‘sing in triumph over the tomb, Alleluia’], ‘O death, where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory?’ [Then shall come the reply]: ‘…thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ’ ” (1 Corinthians 15: 54, 55)!
On that glorious day, when Christ returns, a grand reunion will take place. Children and their parents will be reunited once more. “Little children are borne by holy angels to their mother’s arms. Friends long separated by death are united, nevermore to part…” (The Great Controversy, p. 683)! Glory! I can hardly wait to see Jesus! “Even so, come, Lord Jesus (Revelation 22: 20)!
