What Child is This?

So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.  And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:6,7,NKJV).

Father in heaven, we rejoice as we enter Your presence for we know that You have a life-changing message for us. Please help us to receive it, believe it, and live it, for Your glory. In the name of Jesus the Messiah we humbly pray. Amen.

I have often wondered if it was at night that the Savior came into the world. The angels appeared to the shepherds while they were keeping watch over their flocks by night. Yet they said, “there is born to you this day. . . ” Was it the day beginning at sunset or the day ending at sunset? It would appear that most people seem to believe that it was at night. Many of the carols we sing at Christmastime make reference to the night:  Silent Night, Holy NightO Holy Night; While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night; O Little Town of Bethlehem, “speak of a deep and dreamless sleep.” Does it even matter? I wonder . . .

At His death the sun withdrew its light. Was He born at night in order to keep the manner of His birth a mystery? After all, this is God appearing in human form! This is the topic that has mystified, humbled, and astonished scholars – the topic of the Incarnation. What manner of Child is this:

Who can claim only God as His Father?

Who is as verily God as He is man?

Who angels sing about?

Who wise men from the East are inquiring about?

Who is Creator of all things, yet claims ownership of nothing?

Who is Sovereign in heaven, yet takes the place of a servant?

Who reminds His earthly parents that He “must be about [His] Father’s business

He is Christ the Lord!

He is Creator!

He is Jesus the Savior!

He is  Emmanuel – “God with us.”

He is the Sovereign of the universe!

He is my Savior!

And He loves sinners!

Will you receive Him into your heart and life today? You will never regret it!

Happy birthday Dirma my sweet! I trust you had a wonderful day with Jesus your Friend!
