God Will Supply All!

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4: 19, NKJV.

Dear God we are happy to be in Your Presence. Please speak to our hearts today, for Christ’s sake. Amen.

The Word of God is so fertile that you can look at the same text everyday and find a new message every time! Some years ago I wrote a devotional based on this portion of Scripture. Today, I am impressed to do the same. Let us “taste and see” what the Lord will say to us today through His Word.

The first thing that we will consider is the fact that God’s supply is so vast that He can, and will, supply, not some, but all our need. As whole persons our need is threefold:  physical (body), spiritual (soul), emotional (mind). And God has promised to supply them all!

The supply does not depend in any way on us. It is God who has the riches from which our need will be supplied. These riches come from a place that is untouched by human greed. They come from the Glory Land – where there is no moth, nor rust, nor thieves! There is no possibility that anything or anyone can destroy or steal from your supply. Isn’t that wonderful? In my native Republic of Panama we refer to people who take what does not belong to them as, “amigos de lo ajeno” (friends of what belong to others). But God’s supply is not within their reach. Amen!

Oftentimes we do not share our need with others because of pride, or in order to protect ourselves. We have learned to smile and tell others that everything is okay. We do not want to appear needy or vulnerable to others. Therefore, the physically hungry, the spiritually thirsty, or the emotionally bankrupt, keep it to themselves. Thank God, we can be real with Him. We can freely share our need in the full assurance that it will be taken care of without minimizing our self-worth.

Our next consideration is the channel through which the supply comes to us:  Jesus Christ! Because He is God and Lord, He needed no safe passage to transport it from heavenly places to earth. But what a price He paid to secure it for the human race – not with “corruptible things such as silver or gold”, but with the shedding of His own blood. The shedding of this blood heals our infirmities, dries all our tears, and “[lifts us] out of the miry clay [and sets our] feet on the Rock to stay. He puts a song in [our] souls today, a song of praise – Hallelujah!”
