My Rock – Perfect in His Work!

For I proclaim the name of the Lord:  Ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He. Deuteronomy 32:3,4

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name! Indeed Your name is worth proclaiming, for it is holy! You are a God of justice and truth! You are righteous; and we love You! As long as we live, we want to bring You glory! In the name of Jesus Christ we offer this prayer. Amen and Amen!

We may be spending a few days in these verses. There is so much to unpack in them that I believe we will need some extra time to do so. Today we will comment on God’s perfect work. Notice I used the word “comment.” I realize we will be barely skimming the surface in this conversation. But I am sure we will be blessed by even a glimpse of this attribute of The Rock.

His work is perfect. I was curious to see what word in the human vocabulary could attempt to describe the perfectness of God’s works. I found the Hebrew word (pronounced taw-meem). It is an adjective meaning blameless, complete; whether used figuratively or morally, it literally means entire. When I hear the word entire used to describe something, I realize that you cannot add or take away anything to make that thing better. A commentary on the word said that it is the word used to describe the blamelessness of God’s way, His knowledge and His law.

When people have a problem with God’s way, and His work and His law, it makes me a bit uncomfortable. Our human way of doing things for the past 6,000+ years does not say much in our favor. Yet God has kept all the stars hanging in their place, and kept the planets of our solar system from running into each other. And made ways for His children, when humanly speaking, there was no way! And this has been from eternity! A concept about which we have not the slightest clue. So far, we’ve only had the privilege of living in time. We hope one day to have the joy of experiencing eternity.

What I do know is that many people have misinterpreted the meaning of God’s way,  and others have completely ignored the spirit of His law and therefore have caused many to reject something that was given to us for our own good (Deuteronomy 10:13).

It is no wonder that when Jesus came to earth to show us the true face of His Father, He had to interpret the law, and show us its true meaning:  You have heard that it was said . . . But I tell you . . . (Matthew 5:21-48). Then He demonstrated it by the life He lived.

The way of The Rock is perfect. It leads to eternal life (John 14:6)!
