Blessed! – Part 7

Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them[.] Jeremiah 33:9a.

Heavenly Father, we are so blessed that we can be showcases of Your goodness! May we consider the honor that is ours. And may we spend our lives spreading to all the nations of the earth, Your glorious goodness and tidings! In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

We have come almost to the end of the portion of Scripture that we began meditating upon one week ago. Today, we study anew, what is the real and best reason for our being blessed:  That God’s name may be considered with joy! That His name may be praised! That His name may be honored! I say study anew, because this is a reality that every Christian embraces. We live, by the grace offered to us, that Christ might be honored and glorified in all that we say and do! What could be more glorious?

I believe that in the history of the world, there is no other name that has been put to music, written into poetry, pondered about, more than the name of my “Wonderful” Jesus! Having said that, did you know that His name is Wonderful (Isaiah 9: 6, 7)?

From the moment it was decided that Jesus would come into our world, His name was a major part of the miracle of the incarnation. His name heralded what His mission was going to be, “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21. Emphasis provided).

He would also be the only Savior! “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

His name was a revelation of His nature. He would be given to the human race. He would be the One and Only God-Man! It showed His oneness with the Father and the work that the Father would do through Him.

“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6, 7. Emphasis provided.).

His name is so wonderful; who can know it? Is there any other “god” that would have been willing to leave his exalted place on high to descend not only from his sphere to ours , but adopt the nature of his fallen siblings, and subject himself to mortality so that his siblings could become immortal? No! For there is only One Savior, and His name is Jesus!

“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11. Emphasis provided.)!

We have been chosen to showcase the name of God! What a honor and privilege is ours! We are blessed!
