The God of Jacob is Your Refuge!

The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah (Psalm 46:7, 11).

Heavenly Father we are very grateful for Your faithfulness to us. May we choose to remain with You no matter what. This is my prayer in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Repetition is one of the best ways to learn something. If Algebra was your nightmare as it was mine, one of the best things you could have done was  repeat the rules until you learned them; until you could see how they applied, and then do as many algebraic problems as you could, until you “got it.”

Whenever I see repetition in Scripture I pay special attention. Why is God repeating these words? Is this something I need to remember? Should I pay special attention to it? Is it something we tend to forget? Is remembering this of vital importance?

In reference to our text for today, the answer to all my questions is positive.

1) Because it is important that I internalize this truth.

2) Yes! I need to remember that God is always with me, and that I am able to take refuge in Him.

3) Yes! Because in times of trouble I will need to remember this. Therefore, let me memorize it, lest I forget!

4) Yes! In moments of anxiety we seem to suffer memory loss which leads to doubt and panic and sometimes, distress!

5) Yes! Remembering this will save me from doubt, anxiety, making bad decisions out of fear, and will save me from sleepless nights spent worrying over situations that are out of my control!

So I thank God for reminding me twice in only eleven verses, that He is the same God, who went with Jacob when He fled from the wrath of his brother Esau, and brought him back safely, to his parents home! You and I can take refuge in Him!
