“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” Psalm 91: 14-16.
Dear God, You are such a wise and compassionate Heavenly Father. How can we not love You with all our hearts! Thank You for making it easy for us to dwell in You because of love! In the precious name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen!
We have come to the end of this lovely and powerful psalm! The journey has been sweet and intimate. Finding refuge beneath God’s wings, abiding under His shadow, making Him our dwelling place! We have felt like little kids who find joy in being close to their parents, in most cases, especially their mom.
I have often said, “you cannot know Jesus without loving Him!” It is as we get to experience His self-less love, His forgiving spirit, His endless mercy, that our souls cry out: “Give me more of Jesus!” We want to abide in His presence forever!
Up to verse 13, the psalmist has been reciting and claiming God’s promises. Now the Lord is confirming all of these promises. He will deliver, He will protect, He will answer. And when trouble comes into his life as it will as long as this controversy between good and evil continues, He will be with him! This is very important to remember! In times of trouble the enemy will tempt us into believing that God is not with us. But that is when He is closer than ever!
He is not going to just stand beside us in trouble, He has promised to rescue us! Hallelujah! How do you imagine that we are able to come out alive of our troubles? It is because He puts His hand into the fire and plucks us out (Zechariah 3:2)! Otherwise, the enemy would destroy us!
Wonderful Savior! He has promised that when our journey through this valley of tears is over we will be granted the honor of sitting together with Him in heavenly places! Do you know Him by name? If you do, you will “set [your] love on [Him]”, and all these promises will be yours!
