Protection From Unseen Dangers

You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. Psalm 91:13.

Heavenly Father, we praise You for another day of life! We are fully aware that very often we walk on spiritual mines, and are still alive, because Your angels are kept busy protecting us. Thank You so much for Your loving care in the blessed name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! Amen.

During this week we have been observing how God takes care of His own in any and every situation. Whether the danger comes in the form of pestilence, destruction or war; whether it is at noon, or night, darkness or the daytime. It matters not if the danger is lurking at our side or at our right hand, we are covered!

Today we will look at what I describe as, unseen dangers. The reason I refer to them as such, is because it is not likely that someone would knowingly, confront a lion or a venomous serpent. These are confrontations that you avoid at any cost! It is also interesting to note, though there might be no connection whatsoever, that both the lion (1 Peter 5:8), and the serpent (Genesis 3:1-7), are mentioned in this verse!

The apostle Paul warns us that our battle is not with flesh and blood, “but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12b)!

Jesus also warned us about the thief who comes with only one purpose, “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10). We know that both warnings are against the same foes, the devil and fallen angels.

If they were to come as who they really are, we would most likely flee. If we saw them in our path, chances are, we would go in the other direction. So they disguise themselves. They can take all kinds of shapes and forms (physical, spiritual). I will refer to those who take on a spiritual guise: wolves in sheep clothing, false prophets, or, whitewashed sepulchers. There is no telling what masks they will wear, or if it is to their convenience to just be invisible! Nevertheless, Jesus could spot them from a distance!

The comforting thought  is that, if we take refuge under the wings of our heavenly Parent, we will be safe from dangers seen and unseen! The promise given in Genesis 3:15, was fulfilled at Calvary! It is in that power, that we will trample on all our enemies and defeat them – in Jesus’ name!
