“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him” (Proverbs 26:4).
Heavenly Father, we need Your wisdom and Your power if we are to represent You the way we ought. So please touch our lips with a coal from Your altar, and sanctify our words and fortify our characters. We pray this in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.
One of the most certain ways of giving away our power, I believe, is by allowing ourselves to be drawn into battles that we did not choose. Not every comment need to be responded to, nor do we need to allow other people’s attitude to affect ours.
Whenever we allow someone to make us act “out of character,” we have given them too much power. If David had allowed Saul to send him out to fight against Goliath with his (Saul’s) armor, helmet, and coat of mail, for a certainty he would have lost the battle. But he not only chose his battle, but fought in his own garment, and victory was his for the glory of God!
Always ask for God’s guidance and you will preserve your power!
