“Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses” (1 Kings 8:56).
Our Father who are in heaven, we come into Your Presence once more to receive a word of encouragement, as we press on our journey. We are aware that there is nowhere else on earth, where we can get answers to all our questions, solutions to all our problems, and feel as loved and accepted, as when we are with You!. Please keep us close to Your side. This we pray in the holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Today we come to one more of the many promises of God. This one is taken from the Psalms. David declares in his old age:
“I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread” (Psalm 37:25). In times like these; in the midst of an economic depression, that has led many into emotional depression, it is good to come upon such a comforting affirmation: God will not forsake you. God will always provide for you and your offspring!
David could bare testimony of this promise. In times of war, when he and his men were on the run and hungry, they were allowed to eat sacred bread, that was only to be eaten by the priests (See 1 Samuel 21:1-6).
When he was sorely pursued by Saul, on more than one occasion, and even when his son Absalom, was determined to kill him and take over the throne, God did not forsake him. David had proven God’s faithfulness and could declare,
‘ “When the waves of death surrounded me, the floods of ungodliness made me afraid. The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered His ears. . . .“He sent from above, He took me, He drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me; for they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the Lord was my support. He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. . . . For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose against me. . . . It is God who avenges me, and subdues the peoples under me; He delivers me from my enemies. You also lift me up above those who rise against me; You have delivered me from the violent man. Therefore I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the Gentiles, and sing praises to Your name. He is the tower of salvation to His king, and shows mercy to His anointed, to David and his descendants forevermore” ‘ (2 Samuel 22:5-7, 17-20, 40, 48-51, emphasis supplied).
My friends, this is David’s testimony. This can be your testimony and mine as well; for He is the same God, yesterday, today, and forevermore! ‘There has not failed one word of all His good promise, [and there never will]!”
