No More Night! – Part 2/This devotional is for November 4

Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there)” (Revelation 21:25).

Dear Lord and Father, Whom have we in heaven, or on earth, but You? To whom can we go in times of need and discouragement? It is You who have words of eternal life! So thank You so much dear Lord, for being everything that we need now, and for eternity! In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Yesterday we began a rather interesting study on a time when there will be no night. I believe that some who read the text wonder what life is going to be like with no night! I, for one, who enjoy a restful night of sleep after a hard day of work, or a day that has been particularly stressful, look forward to a peaceful night of rest. In our next conversation we will say more about no night there.

For now, let us compare Isaiah’s prophecy for Israel of old (Isaiah 60), to Revelation 21 and 22. As we do so, we will  notice how God’s intention for Israel of old, will finally find its fulfillment:

Therefore your gates shall be open continually; They shall not be shut day or night, That men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles, And their kings in procession. . . . The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory.  Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended” (Isaiah 60:11, 19, 20).

But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor nto it. Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it” (Revelation 21:22-26)

“They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever” Revelation 22:4, 5; emphasis provided).

I believe that in the earth made new, it is the night of sin that will be gone forever, because the curse will be gone forever.

And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him” (Revelation 22:3, emphasis provided). Once the curse of sin has been removed, everything will become new again!

“Then He who sat on the throne said,  ‘ “Behold, I make all things new” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful” ‘ “(Revelation 21:5).

Yes, dear friends; God is going to make all things new! If God said it, I believe it, and that settles it, for me!

Does it mean that the new Israel, made up of both Jews and Gentiles, will finish the work with the help of the Holy Spirit? May God help us!
