“And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus” (Acts 9:17-19).
Dear Father, I am so glad that You will use anyone who is willing to go on Your errands. Please assure us that if You send us, You will go with us. Thank You in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Remember in our last devotional, Ananias was not too anxious to go and visit Saul, because he was sure that Saul was probably setting a trap for Him and the others of The Way. Nevertheless, he obeyed, and went anyway!
Today we see him laying his hands on “brother” Saul and praying for him. Saul received the Holy Spirit. and the scales, that were obviously the reason for his blindness fell from his eyes. Saul received his sight, and later was baptized. With the help of Ananias, Saul had become an apostle to the Gentiles, to the Jews, and to the world!
As soon as He was well enough he went out and preached Jesus. He was no longer a persecutor, but a preacher of righteousness!
There is no limits to what God can, and will do, with one who is totally surrendered to His will! We can all be heroes and heroines for God, and be a blessing to others, when we, like Ananias will respond, and go where God wants us to go!
