Listen For God’s Voice!

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21).

Heavenly Father, we are blessed to have You as our guide through this maze called life! All around us there are false prophets vying for our attention. Please help us to be able to distinguish between what sounds good to us, and what is good for us by becoming acquainted with Your voice. This is our prayer in the blessed name of Jesus the Christ! Amen.

During these months when COVID-19 and its ever new variants, have limited our activities, many of us have had a priceless opportunity, to spend more time than ever before, in the Presence of God, and become acquainted with His voice. Many questions that we had, but could never find the time, to dig deeper for answers, have been re-visited, and wonderful light has been shed, making Scripture easier to understand and appreciate!

We need this enlightening: “To provide with spiritual or intellectual wisdom” (Webster’s II New College Dictionary), because we have been warned that, if possible, the very elect would be deceived (see Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22)! This is serious! To be deceived is to become blind to the truth.

When Eve listened to the voice of the serpent she became blinded by his lie. The Lord has told us what will happen if the blind leads the blind, “both will fall into a ditch” (Matthew 15:14)! That day, a ditch was dug for the entire human family when death became a reality.

So what will keep the elect, those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior from sin, from being deceived? They know the voice of their Good Shepherd (John 10:27).

It is said that there are gated folds where shepherds leave their sheep for the night. In the morning each shepherd comes and calls his sheep. Each sheep responds to his or her shepherd’s voice, and rises, and follow their shepherd. They know him and they know his voice! There is no confusion among the sheep regarding who is their shepherd!

While there is still time, let us spend as much time as possible in the Presence of the Good Shepherd, until we, the sheep of His pasture, are completely acquainted with His voice. We can never be led astray, or be endangered, while following Him.
