March, Month of Women’s History! Part 7

She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet” (Proverbs 31:21).

Blessed Lord and Heavenly Father, we look to You as our Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider! In every season, You provide what we need! Thank You for providing the clothing we need during the seasons of the year, but also, for providing the covering we need during the seasons of our lives. We pray this in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

Today we see the woman feeling confident, as the season is changing, and winter is drawing near. She can relax, because she has made the necessary provision for the members of her family to have warm clothing.

In the past, I always thought of scarlet only as a color, not as a fabric. However, when I decided to look it up in the dictionary, it was also described as “a kind of rich cloth” (Webster’s II New College Dictionary, Third Edition). In the marginal reading of the (Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible, KJV), it was defined as “double garments.”

I thought to myself, “Is there any detail that the virtuous woman does not take into consideration?” “Is there any circumstance or situation that she does not give thought to, ahead of time, and make provision for?” Hardly. Nothing seems to take her by surprise!

That reveals so much about the woman. Her family is her priority, after God, I am sure. Everything she can do to keep them happy, healthy, comfortable, and beautiful, she will do. And this, in no way, seems to rob her of time for herself! She seems to have mastered the art of loving others as she loves herself, and that is because, as we have seen in her actions, she loves God, best of all!

Once again, we can take a lesson from our study today, if we make God first, last, and best,  in our lives, everything else tend to fall into their rightful place!
