Lord, You Know All About Us And Yet You Love Us!

O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it. Psalm 139:1-6

Dear God, thank You for loving us, even though you know us like no one else does. With such love and tender care offered to us, we know that we are going to be alright after all. Thank you so much in the blessed name of Jesus the Christ!

This is a delightful Psalm. It reveals so much about the creature as well as the Creator. The omniscience, omnipresence as well as the omnipotence of God is seen everywhere; and so is our total dependence upon Him.

In the first part of the psalm David acknowledges that there is nothing about himself that is hid from God. All his movements are known. The path he will take is already before God.

He is stunned as he contemplates the personal interest of his Heavenly Father toward His child. His thoughts, his words, his days, are all known to God before they come to mind, before they are spoken, before they are lived! This appears to be preventive care of the highest quality! Nothing that crosses our path will come as a surprise to God. Therefore, we are safe!

It is one thing to know all about someone. It is quite another subject to understand the circumstances surrounding what you know. God not only knows all about us and our circumstances. He understands. He knows what makes us do what we do. This is first hand knowledge which the psalmist describes as God’s acquaintance with all his ways!

David feels the protective hedge God has placed around him. And while the hedge provides protection, it is the laying on of the Father’s hand that will provide the enabling. God understands how our psyche works because He made us and knows how to sustain us!

At this point, the psalmist is overwhelmed by the grandiosity of the thoughts of the Creator, the Sustainer, the Almighty God, toward Him. Try as he might, He cannot understand it! it is incomprehensible!

We will continue this conversation.
