Coming Back – Part 2

But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31, NKJV.

Heavenly Father, hallowed be Your Name. Here we are waiting to hear a word from You. Help us to remain in the race, until, by Your grace, we make it to the Finish Line! Please receive our praise and thanksgiving  for Your goodness. We offer this in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.

As we continue our conversation today, we will be looking at:

Promise #2:  They shall mount up with wings like eagles.

Let us look at some of the habits, and the behavior patterns of this amazing bird that the Bible makes mention of 34 times (that is, according to my count).

I went to FACTS.NET and discovered the following details of interest on Eagle Facts, by Michael Bryan. I have not listed them in order of importance. We will consider them in ways that they could apply to us.

  • Eagles live 20-30 years on an average in the wild, which is considerably longer than most birds.
  • They have 5 times better sight than human beings. They have 1 million cones per mm2 on their retina, and can see as far as 3 kilometers away, in comparison with human eyes that have 200,000 cones per mm2 on its retina
  • They are expert flyers (as high as 15,000 feet and 160 km per hour)
  • Eagles balance their aggression with gracefulness, thus earning their title as birds of prey.
  • Eagles mate for life.

Let us ponder for a few minutes some of the physical, emotional, and spiritual, benefits that the eagle enjoys, that we could too.

If we practiced some of its healthy habits, perhaps we too could enjoy a longer life span.

If we were to have the eyesight of the eagle in spiritual things, we could see beyond this world, and set our minds on things above.

If we could learn to live above this earthly atmosphere morally, and soar to greater heights as we “[press] on the upward way” we would enjoy greater blessings.

If we were to “be angry and sin not,” Perhaps we would earn the title of Christians, known by our love toward others.

If, as Christians we would not only say, “Till death do us part” but by God’s grace, have the desire, and faith, to live it, we could succeed.

God has promised this and so much more, to those who are willing to wait on the LORD!

The conversation continues!
