Don’t Give Away Your Power! -Part 3

Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him” (Proverbs 26:4).

Here I am again dear Lord, seeking Your guidance as I share a message from You with Your people. Please help me to make it so clear that it might be a blessing, and bring glory to You. In the name of Your Son and our Savior I pray. Amen.

This is our third day on this topic. So far we have discovered that there are more ways than one to give our power away. *By fighting in battles that we did not choose, and using battle gear that are not our own. *By allowing someone else’s attitude to affect and change our attitude.

We also found that in so doing we “become like the other person.” We have given the other person too much power. We have given away our power!

Today, let us take a look at another area in our life where we are in danger of giving someone too much power over us. This is, I believe, the area that we need to guard with greatest care. I am talking about our individuality.

Even in marriage, the most intimate relationship, wherein a man is “joined to his wife and they become one flesh” we should decide, to be two individuals in one flesh. After all, oftentimes it is our complimentary differences that make us attractive to each other.

Notice that God was very clear when He created Adam and Eve, He did so, in His image and likeness. Even though Eve was formed from one of Adam’s ribs she was not cloned, she was created.

Therefore do not give your power away, by becoming someone you were not created to be. Overtime spouses do behave alike in some things, many times by observing the other person and admiring the way he or she does a particular thing, or behave in a certain situation. But they continue to be themselves.

We will spend some more time talking about our individuality.
