Don’t Give Away Your Power! -Part 3 (continued)

Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him” (Proverbs 26:4).

Heavenly Father I need Your help today, as I do everyday. It is Your words of eternal life that I want to share with others. So speak Lord, for I am  listening! In the name of Jesus Christ I pray! Amen.

I promised that we would continue where we left off in our conversation on individuality yesterday. So let us take a look at why it is so necessary that we preserve who we were created to be.

You are the only You. I am the only Me. Mentally, Physically, Emotionally, Spiritually. No one can impact another person the way you can or I can. Notice I did not say as effectively, but rather, the way you can, or I can, by being ourselves. Nowhere else in all the world is there anyone exactly like you or me. Not even identical twins are identical. How much energy we waste trying to be like someone else, when we should be investing that energy on perfecting our one-of-a-kind-ness! Our only-one-of-me-ness.

But that is not the only important reason for preserving who we are. When God created us, He created us with a plan for our life that is like no other person’s plan. It is unique.

If we allow anyone to change who we are by creation, to make us like him or her, we have so much to lose! We may never experience the wonderful blessings God had in store for us in His plan, “day by day, and with each passing moment.” Listen to the psalmist as he marvels over this fact.

You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed” (Psalm 139:16, emphasis supplied, NLT).

God also made plans to safeguard your and my individuality. He created  us in His image and likeness. In order for someone to make us like himself or herself, they would have to destroy God’s image in us first, to make us over in their image. Is it worth it? Should that even be an option?

Think about it!
